Sudden weight gains during pregnancy and losing the same after child birth is something any pregnant woman cannot avoid. No matter how wonderful the experience of giving birth is, it leaves behind stretch marks on mother’s abdomen which keeps reminding her of the pains she has already undergone. Despite stretch marks being so unavoidable, cosmetic experts have always been trying to find out how to prevent stretch marks during pregnancy. In fact it is not so difficult a task. Just taking a few precautions and eating well go a long way in ensuring minimum stretch marks.
While avoiding stretch marks completely is almost impossible, there are certain items in kitchen can help a lot in minimizing stretch marks to a great extent.
  • It has been tried and tested for years that the more Vitamin E you have in your body the less likely you will be to develop stretch marks. Eating Vitamin E rich diet is highly beneficial for preventing stretch marks during pregnancy. It can be taken orally in the form of capsules or applied locally on the belly. Vitamin E capsules can be broken and applied externally.
  • Massaging with olive oil which is a good source of Vitamin E, keeps the skin flexible and minimizes the formation of stretch marks.
  • You can also use Cocoa butter for massaging. It has been used for centuries just as a routine during pregnancy.
  • Keep yourself hydrated by drinking as much water as possible. Though it is a bit difficult to drink too much water during pregnancy, you must remember that your skin needs hydration too. The more water your skin can absorb the more elasticity of it will be retained.
These home remedies or stretch marks prevention tips are very helpful if you start using them as soon as the bulge of your belly starts showing up. However, for those who cannot find these ingredients easily, specially formulated lotions with natural ingredients are also as effective.
